LIPS

One of the most requested dermal filler procedures we offer is lip enhancement. Dermal filler can instantly restore volume, smooth out lines and folds around the mouth and can be used to add both volume and definition to the lips. Dr. Michael Aicken has been using hyaluronic acid gel (dermal filler) to subtly enhance lips for over 16 years, teaching his own technique to thousands of trainees from around the world.

Treatments are tailor-made to suit your needs and include restoration of balance lost with aging (particularly thinning of the top lip), evening out asymmetries, and enhancing features such as lip projection, cupid’s bow, and the philtrum. Dr Mike also offers the ‘Lip Flip’ with botulinum toxin and his own version of ‘Russian Lips’.

Lip enhancement can also be part of overall facial rebalancing which can include jawline & chin augmentation, cheekbone augmentation, and non-surgical rhinoplasty which we use to change the shape and smooth out irregularities in the nose.

Are lip fillers right for me?

Lip fillers can help even out the symmetry of the lips, replace lost volume and lift out some of the lines that can naturally appear as we age. The results – a more youthful and fuller lip shape.

The results can be as subtle or as pronounced as you like and Dr Mike will discuss this with you during your consultation. What we notice most about our lip filler patients is that this treatment has the ability to help boost your self-confidence immediately.

How long does it last?

Lip filler is temporary, although it is fairly long-lasting and can be easily topped up. We would expect the lip filler to last 6-12 months depending on the client and the product.

Michael is also a specialist at correcting procedures that may have not gone to plan elsewhere. The filler can be balanced, topped up, or dissolved if needed.

It's also worth noting that a skin booster such as Seventy Hyal can be used for the lips instead of dermal filler. The main action of this is to give hydration from within for dry lips, but an added bonus is that you'll get to see what your lips would look like with dermal filler, if only for a day or two until the Skin Booster has settled in.

Will it hurt?

strong anaesthetic numbing cream will be applied to the area ahead of injecting. This will minimise discomfort. The filler itself also contains lidocaine which will optimise comfort levels throughout. Additionally, as Dr Mike has vast experience in injecting dermal filler, his injection technique will also limit discomfort.

What volume to go for?

This all depends on the end result you're after but Dr Mike will advise you during your consultation. Every patient is different, and the results can be as subtle or as pronounced as you like. Lip filler for the first time can show amazing results around 0.5-1ml, some patients prefer more volume, and for others we may use a little botox around the mouth to relax the muscles. Typically, most clients will opt for 1ml of dermal filler for their lips.

What will it cost?

Our lip filler at Astral Skin Clinic is £230/ml in one area, then £100/ml in the same area after that.

What is the downtime?

As with all injections, it is possible that some slight swelling or bruising will occur for 2-3 days. We ask that you try to refrain from touching your lips or applying cream or lipstick directly after the procedure. That being said, as treatments go, there is very little downtime, and after 12 hours makeup and lipstick can be applied.
